Good morning Whitmore!

Although we are still in summer, the start of the school year is right around the corner. Here are some ways to stay connected and mark your calendar with these upcoming events.

Connect with Whitmore:
via Facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/whitmorewildcatsTUSD
via Instagram @ https://www.instagram.com/whitmorewildcats/
via ClassDojo - teachers will send you an invitation via email to join their page. This will give you direct access to your child's teacher and school events.

Mark your calendar:
* August 2 - Meet your teacher - 9am – noon; Kindergarten Eegee’s Meet and Greet – 5:30pm – 6:30pm
* August 4 - First day of school - school starts at 8:10am and dismisses at 2:25pm
* August 23 - Open House - 5:45pm - Principal Welcome and Title I presentation; 6:00pm – 7:00pm classroom welcome
* August 25 - No School - Professional Learning Day for staff

Whitmore is excited to announce that we have a partnership with KIDCO and KIDCO will be providing after school childcare on site. See the attached flyer for more information. KIDCO will start the first day of school and childcare will be from the dismissal bell until 6:00pm. Here is a link for more information regarding KIDCO: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/parks/discount-program

In addition to KIDCO, we applied and received the 21st Century Grant which provides students extra-curricular opportunities before and after school. The grant is awarded over the next 5 years for a total of $500,000 which will support our intervention, enrichment, art, and athletic programs to our students. The 21st Century program will be called CATS Club. Students can be enrolled in both the KIDCO and CATS Club. Ms. Kunk will be our CATS Club coordinator and more information will be coming soon as this program begins in September.

The Whitmore office is open daily from 7am to 1pm until July 26th. After this, the office is open from 7am - 3:30pm to answer questions or assist you in registering.

We are so excited to begin the school year. Whitmore's focus is to ensure class sizes in K-1 remain small to give the best start and support to our newest wildcats! This year is no different. Currently, we have approximately 15 students in each of our kindergarten classrooms and 18 in our first grade classes. Help spread the word to others who are looking for more individual instruction and attention. Please give us a call if you have any questions.

Whitmore has many projects that will be completed this year. Construction has already begun on the front entrance to the school. This is just one of the many improvements you will see this year. You will learn more at our welcome back Open House meeting on the 23rd.

We look forward to seeing you soon! Continue to enjoy your summer!
